AN ICONIC SCHOONER
THE SCHOONER OF ALL ACHIEVEMENTS
In 1905, German Emperor Wilhelm II inaugurated the first west-to-east transatlantic race — the Kaiser’s Cup — from the United States to England. Wilson Marshall entrusted the helm of his schooner ATLANTIC to Captain Charlie Barr, an American navigator of Scottish descent and the first three-time winner of the America’s Cup.
With a crew of 50 men, Barr won the race, propelling ATLANTIC into legend with a record crossing time that would remain unbeaten for nearly a century — an unforgettable milestone in sailing history.
